Christmas is a wonderful /colorful creative American holiday!
My parents grew
up abject poverty. They were so
happy to reframe their childhoods
through me!
All the gifts / decorations / food were a way we could share the prosperity of the 1950s.
I was a living
accessory/
decorating the
"happy family's scene" as the
recipient of
their wealth
when I was
a child MHO.
Everybody in the whole nation was celebrating Christmas at the same time and watching these TV programs.
My mother was 2nd generation immigrant from Germany. My dad grew up in an abusive alcoholic home. Both of them as children Christmas was a reminder of how poor they were.
This kind of
Celebration was
so mysterious/
so systemic I
didn't question
how it all
came about.
It was all the good memories a family like that could look forward to repeating every year till about1962-63
