I think pleasing and loving are different in some way /
love is being laid before us now.
God is in the now/loving here in now. One has no control over how God loves he just does.
Pleasing is or can be based on performance and perfection.
Possibly one assumes one is performing something that makes God happy with one and therefore obliged to bless one with goods and services.
Pleasing / in this wise / a temporary contingent event, unique, passing might be based on ones privileged class, community, gifts and ability.
MHO Loving is an Unbroken Eternal state where God is pleased with himself for creating human beings and the creation in general.
Is he not loving the creation and human beings, with the mysterious love of the creator for what he created?
(He said it was so good!!)
One never shall never understand this kind of love MHO.
It's the kind of love one is sustained by the existence of another outside oneself, who gives us breath to breathe and air to breathe it in.
Genesis 3:19;
For you were made from dust, and to dust you will return.
